Today’s #mindsetreset video YOUTUBELINKHERE was a great one. Mel encouraged us to notice/identify the DEFAULT negative narratives that we play in our head so that we can begin the process of retraining our brain to be DIRECT, DELIBERATE, and present in the reality of NOW as we achieve our goals. This was a perfect follow-up to the day one challenge for visualization. See the DAY ONE VIDEO HERE if you missed it.
A quick, honest look at my goals, my visualization exercise, and the foundation that this has in the BIBLE:
LISA’S GOALS: regular movement for body, confidence in my work, self-control and financial debt payment, express my respect/value of my husband more obviously, listen more than I talk with friends, define my self-worth based on my character growth (as guided by scripture) and not live in fear of judgement from others.
LISA’S VISUALIZATION: So, I want to try a Zumba class. This makes me TERRIFIED. I didn’t grow up playing sports or really have any background in physical fitness, so I totally don’t know how to do any of that, and just the “what do you do after you walk in the door of a gym?” is enough to send me into a partial panic attack. Then, as I have often heard from people with more apparent physical fitness: fit people JUDGE unfit people. Why do you think that I don’t care about my health just because I’m fat? I care… I just also have some negative habits and no one has made me feel safe enough to try physical activity. Do you know that a person who feels badly about their body feels much better about it when no one can see them on the couch instead of when 20+ buff people are staring at all the extra movements that tummy/leg/arm does when anything aerobic happens??? Ok… see… so I tried to visualize going there, but the imaginary people at the gym started judging me and I froze right there in my own mind. This is going to take some work.
LISA’S NASTY DEFAULT NARRATIVE: Lisa is not good enough at ___. {Name} doesn’t like Lisa. Lisa is bad, and there is no reason for anyone to like her.

Psalm 119:59 When I think on my ways, I turn my feet to your testimonies
Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
