Keep in step

Everybody wants to change the world But one thing’s clear No one ever wants to change themselves

That’s the way things are All because we hate the buzzkill Jaded when we need to feel

But we can change it all if you really want it

“Do you really want it?” Nothing More

No one ever wants to change themselves. 2018 taught me to embrace change in a way I never have before. As it turns out, I have lived in a pattern of fear, anxiety, narcissism, perfectionism, control, and blame trying to avoid judgement, failure, and loss. It’s not working. You’re not surprised? Of course not – not when you use words like that. The trouble is, I used to think I was: cautious, attentive, successful, hard-working, capable, and intelligent. Those words sound OK, right? No need for change here. Then why didn’t I feel OK? Those were the wrong words. All because we hate the buzzkill.

In my #MindsetReset journey the last couple of days, I reflected on 2018. It was a challenging year. I needed it to change the way I think. I can’t wait to see how God will transform me in 2019 as I seek to be a person of grace, contentment, humility, zeal, servant-hood, and joy.

{Hebrews 4:16}
Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

{Galatians 5:16-17, 22-23, 25}
…I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control… If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.
