O sluggard

{Proverbs 6:6 ESV}
Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise.
{Proverbs 20:4 ESV}
The sluggard does not plow in the autumn; he will seek at harvest and have nothing.

Until yesterday, I would have (pridefully) told you how great it was to know that I was not a sluggard. I’m not lazy! I’m constantly on the go. I am a hard worker. I have a strong sense of responsibility toward what I commit to in my personal and professional life.

{Proverbs 22:4-5 ESV}
The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life. Thorns and snares are in the way of the crooked; whoever guards his soul will keep far from them.

I was handed a dose of humility from my good Lord this week. It revealed some thorns that I was putting in my own way.

{Proverbs 22:3 ESV}
The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.

There is a time to see actual danger and take action. To be honest, my brain is generally making up the danger because of uncertainty. I’ve been reading one Proverb each day this month (31 days = one Proverb chapter each day). This particular truth was presented TWICE so that I wouldn’t miss it:
{Proverbs 22:13 ESV} The sluggard says, “There is a lion outside! I shall be killed in the streets!”

Yep, let’s take a look at that again… {Proverbs 26:13-14 ESV} The sluggard says, “There is a lion in the road! There is a lion in the streets!” What’s your lion? Mine: that is unsafe for my kids, a grave accident might happen on the road, someone will reject me, I will be embarrassed, get fired, lose my temper, look like an idiot… I will let [name] down…
As a door turns on its hinges, so does a sluggard on his bed. Have you ever tossed and turned worrying at night? Have you ever stayed in bed, or in your house, or just STUCK IN YOUR MIND instead of taking action? Yes? Me too… so… what? did that say sluggard? Whoa.

{Proverbs 13:4 ESV}
The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.

Diligent, deliberate, disciple of the Lord. This #MindsetReset is moving you forward.

What can I cheer you through today? For real, I’m excited about what God is doing in my life and yours! ~Lisa
